Lessons I've learned from having a dog

There is already almost 3 years since I have a dog. My little pup Dominikos is a huge part of the family and means so much to me. All these years I've learned and experienced a lot of things with Domik (the short name of Dominik). Today I would like to tell you some of them. If you are getting ready to buy a dog - it will be an interesting post for you.

My dog is an original chihuahua in medium size (now his weight is 4 kg). When I brought him first time to home, he was just 250 gramms. So make sure to be ready that the dog you're loving like a cute little puppy will grow in 2 years in an adult with his own habits, temper and behaviour and size. Dominikos is like a human! He understands everything what I tell him. He knows what is good and bad, and most of the times, he is a very disciplined boy. However when he feels sad and boring, he is coming next to me and asking to step in and play or help.

He likes to walk and, from last year, to swim too. He is an absolute explorer. He needs to know everything, to go everywhere and to try all at least once in life (I mean everything). He lives in the present tense and listens his instincts about the next move. I love how organised and accurate he is when it goes about food. He always try to eat carefully, calm and with the most funny champing ever.

Sometimes it's difficul to please his tastes and preferences. However if the product is expensive, Domik feels it somehow and takes it away. His favorite food is chicken, salmon, calamari, steak and сookies with bacon. I'm always trying to give him something delicious but also to control his weight for he not become too fat (it can be problematic for his health).

He loves music and used to go out in bars from his childhood. I found out that his favorite styles of music are Deep House and Tropical House. Everytime we go to cafe, he gets his cookie and after chill in the sofa. Most of the times waiters bring him water too. He likes to watch people crossing the streets and pigeons walking on the road.

In case somebody has a problem with my dog, I'm moving straight to the entrance. There is a very big sign for me if the shop can't come clear with a little chihuahua and act enormous. So I'm trying to keep it simple and don't make an extra problem here. But actually I believe that if there is a place for a little child inside (who can make anything), there should be also a corner for a healthy and smart dog (who maybe behave even better than little children). Especiallly when the humans are next to the pup and ready to take care about every step of him.

My dog loves attention. He wants me to play with him, to tell him compliments, to draw the attention of people and to hug. I'm calling him the mascot of the family because he is an absolute happiness. I love to see his tail moving with the super fast speed. It means he is excited and pleased.Next to it, he is always there for me. Feeling my happiness or sadness, he is coming and trying to support. He is my best friend and I know he will never betray me. I trust him and treat him with all my love and care.

Definitely you have noticed that Dominikos has his own wardrobe with t-shirts in different color variations and patterns. I'm trying to make a couple look everytime we go out. He loves to wear clothes. It makes him so happy and I think it's because he used to wear anything warm from 2 months old. I don't buy him expensive shirts because I don't see the reason for it. But I always make sure that his clothes are comfortable, perfect fit and have a good quality.

I found out that his favorite color is pink. If you show him 2 the same plates but in different colors, pink and blue, he will choose the pink one. This is happening because dogs see colors in a different way. By the way, the pink is blue for them.

My pup is very friendly. He wants to say "Hi!" to every dog, kitty or bird outside. While I'm walking with him in the city, we stop at least 5 times for Dominikos chat with his new friend. He has a friend Bianca who lives next to us and one grown up lady cat who is always behave so good to him. Sometimes I think that all animals look at him and try to understand who he is: squirrel or big mouse.

Whatever I will write here, it is nothing to the fact that your dog will love you. Maybe it can be difficult sometimes (when you need to bring him to vet, to clean him, to teach him) but it's nothing to the life which will be fulled by a wonderful creature. If you are still thinking: do you need a dog, I think yes. Everybody needs a friend next to him, ecpecially with 4 paws!
